The Summer Camp season usually runs from mid-June through mid-August. The Assistant Director usually starts work in early June.

Brief Description
of Duties
Help oversee residential summer camp operations; including organization, implementation, and maintenance of summer camp program, camper development, staff development, good public relations with parents. Help supervise 14 teaching staff, oversee health office, schedule campers and staff. Plan and conduct natural history and environmental education programs for Point Reyes Nature Science Camp. This is a residential, weekday environmental education camp for children ages 7-16. Evening work and driving of camp vehicles with children is required.
Summary of Qualifications
1) Academic background in natural history, science or environmental education.
2) Strong leadership ability, dynamic and effective teacher, positive role model.
3) At least 2 years teaching experience in residential environmental education.
4) First aid techniques and CPR with current certification (higher level certification(s) and experience a plus).
5) Clean driving record and willingness to apply for commercial driving license.
6) Ability to carry 50 pound backpack up to 8 miles per day over rugged terrain.
7) Enjoyment of the outdoors, creativity, enthusiasm, flexibility, self-motivation, and a sense of humor.
