Adventure Camp is designed especially for teenagers, aged 13-16. The core of this session is a 4-day backpack trip (approximately 18-22 total miles) into the heart of the Point Reyes National Seashore wilderness. Backpackers encounter sweeping vistas, as well as lush forests, rich tidepools and expansive beaches. Each of the four backpack groups consists of 13 campers, 1 Naturalist and 2 Naturalist Intern/Counselors. The finale of the week is a reunion of all the backpackers at a dinner and dance back at our home base, the Clem Miller Environmental Education Center.
This exciting 6-day camp provides a unique opportunity for teens to interact with their peers without all of the social pressure common at this age. While campers gain independence, they also learn teamwork, backpacking skills, and the natural history of the Point Reyes peninsula. Most importantly, the friendships they make will last a lifetime.
Participants should be capable of hiking up to 7 miles per day with a full backpack. The camp provides all group gear such as stoves, pots, pans and tarps. Campers should bring their own sleeping bags, sleeping pads and backpacks.
The number one concern for our staff and program is providing a safe and caring environment. Our 3.5 to 1 camper to staff ratio helps ensure that the emotional and physical safety of our campers is kept a top priority. Camp also has a close partnership with the National Park Service staff who are located close by and are available in case of an emergency.

Sunrise-7:30 Wake up with the early birds, or maybe sleep in a little, depending on the hike that is ahead of you! The staff will get breakfast going and will need help with the meal preparation and clean-up!
8:30-10:00 Finish cleaning up after breakfast and pack up your belongings and group gear. Maybe do some stretching or start your day with a reflective moment before heading out on trail.
10:00-12:00 Hike until it feels right to stop for lunch on trail. Take a breather to rest and digest before continuing on your adventure.
1:00-4:00 Continue along your way until your group reaches its next campsite destination. Once at camp, take a break before starting the evening's meal preparation.
5:00-7:00 Everyone pitches in to make your backcountry dinner a success! Participation in meal preparation and clean-up is vital to ending the day right. Maybe catch the sunset from a mountaintop or down on the beach.
7:00-9:30 Have a beach bonfire or tell stories back at camp as you settle in for a night under the stars. A good night's sleep is essential for the next day's adventures!
10:00 Fall asleep under the stars (can someone please turn off the moon?)
