Ellen moved to California from her home state of Pennsylvania after attending Penn State University as a history major, and where she held her first job working in a bookstore. Her goals were to live in a more diverse setting and become active in the social justice movements of the 1970’s which were abounding in the San Francisco Bay Area.
She held various positions in Retail, Banking, and Customer Service, raised a family, and started up and became the owner and director of a popular neighborhood preschool that she is still involved in today. Ellen returned to school in her thirties and forties to pursue an MA in Human Development from Pacific Oaks College, Pasadena. She finds the human animal a fascinating one to observe and study!
Ellen moved from Berkeley to Inverness with her husband Dennis in 2013. She was ready to leave the urban environment for a quieter life closer to the hiking trails and water that she loves to explore through hiking and kayaking.
She was happy to find a job with PRNSA as the Bookstore’s Retail Assistant Manager in the summer of 2017. With her love of nature, books and history, she has found a position where she feels inspired and productive. She treasures the uniqueness and charm of the Bear Valley and Drakes Beach Bookstores, and hopes to enrich and enliven the Stores with some fresh books and inventory. She enjoys working alongside the current Bookstore team, who share with her the passion for helping Park Visitors enjoy the beauty of Point Reyes National Seashore!
