Learning on the Land: A Teacher Training 2017
February 4-5 (Saturday - Sunday) / Ecology Intensive (February 3)

April 27-28 (Thursday - Friday) / Ecology Intensive (April 26)

Clem Miller Environmental Education Center, Point Reyes National Seashore

Learning on the Land, a prerequisite course designed for teachers, naturalists, environmental educators and program leaders interested in utilizing the Clem Miller Environmental Education Center, welcomes all educators interested in connecting to the land. This two-day course weaves together concepts of natural history, environmental and experiential education and program planning specific to this site.

Logistics

The February workshop begins at 8 am Saturday morning and ends Sunday at 4:30 pm. Meals will be provided from Saturday mid-morning through Sunday lunch. The April workshop begins at 8 am Thursday morning and ends Friday at 4:30 pm. Food will be provided from Thursday mid-morning through Friday lunch.

Come prepared to get to know the kitchen and be part of our collective meal preparation, cooking and cleaning.

Participants are invited a day early for a day-long intensive ecology exploration. While the main event combines training in practical planning and teaching methods, the optional day is packed with information on topics such as bird language, tracking, botany and general ecology.

Optional Overnight

For those travelling from outside the area and anyone interested in spending a little extra time on site, add optional overnight accomodations before or after the workshop for just $30/night more. (You're on your own for dinner those nights as town is a short drive away. However, we will provide coffee/tea and goodies from Bovine Bakery in the morning. Check out by 10am on Monday for February Workshop and 10am Saturday for April Workshop.)

Course Fee

The fee is $160 for PRNSA members and $205 for nonmembers and includes instruction, lodging, and meals (April-Thursday mid-morning through Friday lunch and February-Saturday mid-morning through Sunday lunch). The fee for the Ecology Intensive course is $95 and includes instruction, lodging, and meals (mid-morning through dinner).

Continuing Education Credits are available through Sonoma State University for an additional fee.
