Save the Date for Dinner on the Pacific Plate - September 22, 2012

Logo for the Dinner on the Pacific PlateDinner on the Pacific Plate, Point Reyes National Seashore Association's second annual fundraising dinner and auction was held on Saturday, September 10, 2011. This event celebrates the fun and learning that happens when we explore, discover and connect with our National Park by the sea.

From all our Board and Staff, we would like to thank all our event sponsors, business partners, guests, auction donors, bidders and volunteers who made our 2nd annual Dinner on the Pacific Plate such an amazing success. We had 255 guests join us in celebrating our beautiful park by the sea. Guests enjoyed 1 of 12 pre-dinner hikes, cocktails and appetizers with many local vendors and dinner under an elegant Zephyr tent presented by Pam Ferrari Catering. Environmentalist and journalist Doug McConnell hosted the evening's program and our young stewards of our summer camp program spoke about why their experiences at Point Reyes National Seashore means so much to them. Relive the moments by checking out our event photos taken by Paige Green, and be enticed to join us for the park's 50th anniversary next year.

Lastly, one of the goals for our dinner was to ensure our waste stream was nominal and responsible. In an effort to reduce waste we partnered with the park to ensure all items that could be recycled were, and all food and paper were composted. To this end we were very successful. With 255 guests, and over 30 volunteers and staff, we were able to recycle 500 pounds of glass, plastic, and aluminum containers, and compost all of the evening's food scraps. Only two 33 gallon bags of landfill material were produced. What a great success!

Join us as we celebrate Point Reyes National Seashore's 50th Anniversary at Dinner on the Pacific Plate on Saturday, September 22, 2012. Additional details coming in 2012.
