Point Reyes National Seashore is located approximately 22 miles north of San Francisco on Highway 1 along the west coast of California. Travelers may approach the park from the winding scenic Highway 1, either northbound or southbound. You can also reach the park via Sir Francis Drake Boulevard or Point Reyes/Petaluma Road.

Public transportation in West Marin and Point Reyes is limited. On weekends and holidays from late December through mid-April when visitation by whale watchers to the Point Reyes Lighthouse area is heavy, visitors may be required to ride a shuttle bus from Drakes Beach to the Lighthouse and Chimney Rock areas. Point Reyes National Seashore offers no other public transportation.
West Marin Stagecoach provides limited public transportation Mondays through Saturdays between Inverness and San Rafael along Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. On Wednesdays and Fridays, the Stagecoach provides transportation between Marin City and Point Reyes Station along Highway 1. There is no public transportation
to the Point Reyes area on Sundays since
Golden Gate Transit route #65 was taken
out of service as of March 9, 2003. For
