Field Institute Instructor

Angela Hume is a poet and critic living in Oakland, California. Her writing explores intersections between “lyric” poetry and environmental justice. Her critical work appears in such journals as Contemporary Literature, ISLE: Interdisciplinary Studies in Literature and Environment, Evental Aesthetics, and Jacket2. Angela is the author of the poetry chapbooks Melos (Projective Industries, 2015), The Middle (Omnidawn, 2013) and Second Story of Your Body (Portable Press at Yo-Yo Labs, 2011). Her first full-length book of poetry is Middle Time (Omnidawn, 2016). In 2013 Angela co-organized the first-ever Conference on Ecopoetics in Berkeley, CA. She has co-curated Hearts Desire, the reading series of the Bay Area Public School, and served on the board of directors for Small Press Traffic, a San Francisco-based literary arts organization.
