This class is an introduction to the world of dragonflies led by Kathy Biggs, renowned dragonfly expert and author of Dragonflies of California (Azalea Creek Publishing). The morning PowerPoint presentation will include an overview of the biology, life cycle, and ecology of the Odonata (the family to which the dragonflies and damselflies belong). Learn about skimmers, darners, clubtails, spiketails, pond damsels, jewelwings, and other fascinating and beautiful species. The identification marks for the most common species in the Bay Area will be introduced. In the afternoon, we will take to the field to view, identify, and observe these marvelous insects.
Also open to youth (age 10 to 17) with parent attending.
