119th Annual Christmas Bird Count
Volunteers Needed for the Point Reyes Christmas Bird Count on December 15
Registration deadline is December 7.
The National Audubon Society and the Point Reyes National Seashore invite birdwatchers to participate in the longest-running ongoing citizen science project in the country: the 119th annual Audubon Christmas Bird Count (CBC). On the big day, birders will head out with area leaders and take to the trails, highways, and byways of west Marin county via car, foot, bike, and boat to count every bird seen in a 15-mile-diameter mile circle – and be a part of this tradition.
The Point Reyes Christmas Bird Count was founded over 40 years ago. The Count Circle covers many different habitats in one of the richest, most diverse birding areas in Northern California - everything from ocean to rangeland. Newcomers are welcome!
Please register by December 7th to participate so that the compilers can arrange coverage for the 32 areas within our count circle. The count is ON regardless of weather.
There is no fee to participate in the count. Registration by December 7 IS required.
If you wish to attend the festive countdown and enjoy a catered dinner by chef extraordinaire Dave Cook at the Dance Palace, tickets are $20 per person.
If you have other questions please email the compilers George Curth and Todd Plummer, PRNSA Development Director, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
