Julia is a visual artist from California. Her work explores themes of gender, sisterhood, and wildness in dialogue with the environment. Often working in collaboration with the landscape and natural elements, Julia situates traditional print media in untraditional contexts. She works primarily in large-scale woodblock and monotype printmaking, as well as paint and installation media. Her work has been exhibited in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and internationally. She has been published by Grist Magazine, the Inverness Almanac, the West Marin Review, and Graphic Impressions. Julia has been an artist in residence at the Kala Art Institute in Berkeley California and at Brush Creek Foundation for the Arts in Wyoming. This July, Julia will be an artist in residence at the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica di Venezia, a printmaking center in Venice, Italy. She is an active member of the Northern California Women’s Caucus for Art, the National Women’s Caucus for Art, the California Society of Printmakers and Southern Graphics Council International.
