Chimney Rock is the premier wildflower area of Marin County and it is an amazingly dynamic little peninsula jutting into the Pacific Ocean and Drakes Bay. We will look closely at all species to learn how the color and shape of flowers has co-evolved with insect and bird pollinators. We will also watch for whales, sea lions, elephant seals, birds and lichens. Bob’s knowledge and stories will enhance your awareness of this popular Point Reyes destination. It is not required but strongly recommended to take the companion class “Inland Wildflowers of Mt. Burdell” for an interesting comparative study of inland and costal wildflowers. Also open to youth (age 15 to 17) with attending parent.
