There are already clear patterns developing among North American birds species. Some migrants are wintering further north. Mountain birds are being forced ever higher in elevation. Changes are happening in breeding range, generally species moving northward. What are the signs, the triggers of climate change affecting birds? What are the limits of the adaptability of our bird species as climate change stresses and changes habitats and ecosystems? What can man do to help the more embattled species survive? We will spend time in the field with an eye to consider how each species will cope with climate change. This class will include presentation, field observation and some discussion of what can be done. Also open to youth (age 15-17) with attending adult.
