Bring a picnic, family and friends and spend the day at the Annual Sand Sculpture Contest at Drakes Beach. All ages (but no dogs) are welcome at this free community and family event.
Amateur sand sculpting contestants take inspiration from the park surroundings, integrating shells, seaweed, driftwood, and other decorative debris into the sand structures. Local guest judges will be awarding three prizes in each of the following categories: Children (14 and under), Families, Adult Individuals, and Adult Groups. Honors will also be awarded for the sculpture with the most recycled plastic included in its design. All prizes are donated by the Point Reyes National Seashore Association.
Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. at the Ken Patrick Visitor Center. Judging begins at 12:00 p.m., and prizes are awarded at 3:30 p.m.
